I spoke with my dad this evening (Sept. 16th) and today was Stacy's first treatment. He said it took about 3 hours from start until finish. She went and had her hair cut today. He said it looks really cute. He took pictures but Stacy was not feeling well enough to put the pictures on her computer. She goes tomorrow to get a shot. My dad thinks it's for the nausea.
My dad said Stacy was feeling pretty lousy. Sore knees, headache and just plain yucky. I guess the next couple of days are suppose to be pretty bad.
Maybe the bathroom remodel that Chris is working on will keep her from feeling too lousy.

It starts tomorrow
Wow, I'm actually blogging, at least I think that's what I'm doing. So here it goes.
On August 27th my sister Stacy went to the Dr. for a routine check up. She was suspicious of something in her breast and let the Dr. know. She was given a routine mamo. Nothing showed up. She was then persistent and asked for an untra sound. And that is when it started. Next came the biopsy. And then the news that she was not expecting to get(at work), and "are you someplace where you can sit down", she knew is was not good. Stacy has breast cancer. My baby sister has breast cancer. She called me on my cell phone on the way home from Staples(my kids just started school) and said "Stephanie, can you call me when you get home?". So I did, and I think I've been in shock ever since. It is not possible that my younger sister has cancer. This is not happening.
The news did not get any better. She had her lymph nodes tested. The cancer was there. Where did this come from.
Since then she has had an MRI, bone scan, and now a PET scan(I think that's it so far). The little bit of good news was the MRI was fine and so was the bone scan.
When I talked to Stacy today she was sure that the PET scan was going to show something. I'm not sure what the test is. She said it's radioactive, and that she had to sit in a dark room for 3 hours with no TV, no magazines, no nothing, Nada. They let her go to the bathroom. Woohoo. I told her they treat prisoners better than that.
After the torture chamber, she went to try on wigs. She said she found 2 she likes. I think I am still in shock. I can only imagine what she is feeling.
I certainly try not to complain too much. What else can I do. I pray(a lot), and if there is any news that is good, I say "Thank you God".
Stacy starts chemo tomorrow at 10:00am. Her first treatment. Stacy hates to take an aspirin.
